Why Ruth 2?

Ruth Chapter 2 in the Bible is a story of God's amazing grace and how he works in the lives of ordinary people.

Ruth's story
Ruth was a Moabite woman who lost her husband and stayed with her mother-in-law, Naomi, in a land that was not her own. She continued to worship the one true God, and God honored her choice.

Boaz's kindness
Ruth went to glean in the fields of Boaz, a wealthy landowner and close kinsman of Ruth's family. Boaz treated Ruth with incredible kindness and grace, including offering her hospitality and the privilege of drinking from water jars that were normally reserved for servants.

God's providence
The events in Ruth 2 take place in a Bethlehem barley field, and the story shows how God's redemptive plan is at work in the ordinary events of life.

God's grace
God's grace is seen in the way he gives people more than they deserve, such as more love, favor, and an abundant life.

God's provision
God rewards Ruth for her loyalty and faithfulness. Ruth is recognized by Boaz and becomes an ancestor to the future king of Israel.
